RunCore has this week unveiled a new addition to their range in the form of the RunCore InVincible SSD, which is equipped with James Bond style destruct buttons. Allowing you to either clear the data on the drive or completely destroy the solid state drive with one click of either the green or red button, depending on your desired destruction method.
Pressing the green button will start a process within the drive to overwrite your data with meaningless code, making sure there is no way to potentially recover data stored on the SSD, and returning the SSD back to its factory default settings.
However if you would prefer a little more security the red button allows you to physical destroy your SSD by applying an over-current to the NAND flash memory and thereby physically destroying the solid state drive completely.
“The RunCore InVincible product series is catering to embedded computer systems requiring high-speed serial switched fabric interconnects for rugged design implementation and more flexible power ranges. Delivering optimized storage options particularly in mission-critical fields such aerospace, military and general industrial applications.”
As well as data destruction features the RunCore InVincible SSD also provides read (240Mbps) and write (140Mbps) speeds that are compatible with most SSD drives currently on the market. Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
