If you have fancied owning a retro styled valve stereo headphone amplifier but have thought they are out of your price range.
Richard Willmott has created one that is equipped with a retro valve and high-performance components yet priced at an affordable £40 for a fully constructed system.
Willmott explains little more high quality retro Headphone Amp that provides a ‘warm sound’ thanks to the use of the valve.
The Amplifer uses standard 3.5mm Auxiliary jack for the audio Input and Output, making it easy to connect to many devices. The Amplifier was first designed in Cadsoft Eagle, making sure every component would fit correctly. Next the files were sent off to a PCB house, and received them a few days later.
After ordering all the necessary components, especially the important 12AU7/ECC82 Valve! I soldered them together. Also the Amplifier comes with a clear Acrylic base to protect the board and give it a modern look. All components used are of the highest quality (Japanese Capacitors etc..) making sure to get the best sound possible.
