Adriano Ambrosi has developed a new smart power supply called the RaspUnderControl for the Raspberry Pi range of mini PC boards which provides an easy way to add a simple single press power button to the mini PC.
Watch the video below to learn how easy the add-on board is to install and use to provide a more convenient way to power up your Raspberry Pi mini PC.
The hardware is now available via Kickstarter with pledges starting from just €12 and free shipping throughout Italy. Adriano explains more about the inspiration behind the RaspUnderControl :
Raspberry Pi is a great board, you can use for learn hardware and software, for playing your favourite retrogame (and i like very much !!!), its your best friend in today’s world of micro computer. I design the raspundercontrol board because i think the only lack in many single board computer is the famous and glorious power button like a home commputer.
If you plan to use your rpi in a standalone project, RaspUnderControl is the perfect solution. I started to design and test the circuit a few months ago, lots of beer and fun during these test night… A tiny script written in python interact with the raspundercontrol board. 2 GPIO are used, GPIO17 for the watchdog and GPIO18 for shutdown/reboot command.
The on board led has just 3 state:
• Fast Blink. Power Up the RPI or reboot state
• Slow Blink. Power off state
• Fixed. All OK !!! and you can use your RPI
