At the Web 2.0 summit yesterday Sony announced that the new highly anticipated Playstation Vita portable gaming console will be launching and going on sale February 22, 2012 in the U.S, Canada, Latin America, and Europe.
Up until now Sony’s Playstation Vita release date has still been a mystery and it was thought by some that Sony would try to launch their new gaming console before the holiday season. However the announcement confirms other reports that the device will not now be ready until early in 2012.
When the Playstation Vita finally arrives in February 2012 there will be two versions available a Wi-Fi only console, available for $250 and a Wi-Fi and 3G version which will be available for $300 and that will be on the AT&T network.
