Pandora the Internet Radio service has just announced that their site now has 60 million people registered to be a listener of the personalised online radio service.
“Pandora plays the music of tens of thousands of artists every day. It’s a very promising sign for the industry that music fans are so quickly embracing this new form of radio,” said Joe Kennedy, CEO and President of Pandora.
Pandora started back in 2000 and offers thousands of sounds to users with a collection spanning 90,000 separate artists of which 80% are played each month. Just drop the name of one of your favourite songs or artists into Pandora and let the Genome Project provide your music.
The Music Genome Project is the most comprehensive analysis of music ever undertaken. Utilising the skills of fifty musician-analysts who listening to music, one song at a time, studying and collecting hundreds of musical details within each song.
The process takes about 20-30 minutes per song to database all of the of the 400 attributes that give each recording its magical sound – melody, harmony, instrumentation, rhythm, vocals and lyrics.
