In a move to develop its own e-mail client and generate a wider market Opera has acquired the Australian e-mail company FastMail.fm.
FastMail.fm was launched over 10 years ago by Jeremy Howard with a school friend Rob Mueller who said: “In an increasingly competitive market, we believe we need to make some big investments to take the next steps forward. Joining together Opera’s expertise in web browsers and especially the mobile market, and FastMail.FM’s expertise in email”
Opera has clear plans for FastMail.fm’s future by providing it with more resources to increase its infrastructure and offer users more features.
The deal looks good for both parties and the Fastmail email service will continue to run as normal.. with the same billing cycle, pricing, features, reliability, security, says Rob Muelle.
