OnePlus has officially introduced the OnePlus X, the second handset the company has introduced this year — the first was the OnePlus 2.
The handset will continue to follow the company’s traditional invite system, where you’ll need an invite from the company or either from a person who already purchased a OnePlus.
“Today’s smartphone user strives to find the perfect balance of style and performance. The OnePlus X is a designcentric device chic and powerful enough to fit any lifestyle,” said OnePlus CEO Pete Lau.
The handset comes with an excellent set of specifications on board, and that too at a very competitive price tag. The handset comes with a 5-inch display sporting a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels, as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. There’s a microSD card slot if you ever need expandable storage.
Other features of the handset include 13MP main camera for photos and videos, an 8MP front-facing camera, a 2,525 mAh battery and ships with company’s in-house OxygenOS as its operating system which is based on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
The handset comes with a premium design and a glass back. As far as the pricing and availability is concerned, the OnePlus X Onyx will come with a EUR 269 price tag and will be available in Europe from November 5th. The handset will launch in the US on November 19th with a $249 price tag. There’s a Ceramic version of the handset as well which will launch in Europe and India starting November 24 for EUR369. If you want the Ceramic version, you’ll need a specific invite for the handset, but you have to act fast if you are interested in it as the company mentioned there are only 10,000 units of the version.
Anyone interested in picking up the OnePlus X? Will it be a worry for other manufacturers in the mid-range category?
