O2 has released a statement on its website, saying that it will only be selling the iPhone 4 to existing O2 customers withing the UK., according to O2 this is due to the shortages of the iPhone 4 in the UK.
If you are an existing O2 mobile, or O2 broadband customer you will be able to buy an iPhone 4 from an O2 store, they wont start selling the iPhone 4 online until July and also won’t start selling it to non O2 customers until then.
iPhone 4 will only be available for existing O2 customers at launch
iPhone stock will be extremely limited in the UK at launch and not everybody who wants one will be able to get one straight away. We want to make sure that our existing customers get priority so until at least the end of July, only existing O2 customers will be able to get an iPhone 4 from us.
Whether you’re an existing O2 mobile customer looking to upgrade, or one of our broadband customers looking to move your mobile to O2, our iPhone stock is reserved exclusively for you.
It looks like anyone who isn’t with O2, and wants an iPhone 4 on launch day will have to look elsewhere. Could this be an attempt by O2 to give their existing customers the impression that the iPhone 4 will be in very short supply, and their best chance of getting one is from O2, which would in effect stop people from looking at other networks.
