Nikon rolled out several new digital cameras this week including the ruggedized AW110 and AW110s. The two cameras are very similar in only differ in a few minor details. Both cameras offer five times optical zoom and use a backside illumination CMOS sensors.
The cameras also both have 16-megapixel resolution and integrated Wi-Fi. The ruggedized nature of the cameras allows them to be used to a depth of 18 m while diving and the cameras can survive falls from approximately 2 m above the ground. The cameras can also withstand cold temperatures and are able to operate at up to -10°C.
Other common features include an altimeter, depth gauge, and atmospheric pressure indicators that can be recorded with image data. The cameras also feature built-in GPS and a three-inch OLED display on the back. Both cameras will be available in five different colors. The main difference is that the AW110s lacks the built-in map display of its sibling. Pricing and availability details are unknown at this time.
