We’ve seen several rumors in the past few days about the existence of the alleged Nexus 9, codenamed Volantis, as well as the Nexus 6 smartphone.
A new report suggest the purported Nexus 9 will be announced later today, alongside the new Nexus 6 smartphone. There will no big launch event, but the devices will be unveiled via a regular blog post.
The source said that Google did plan to hold a launch event, but since Android L still requires more work, the company decided to do a low profile launch. As per the report, the alleged Nexus 9 will be available for pre-order on the 17th October and available to purchase on the 3rd November. The 16GB version of tablet will come with a $399 price tag, while the 32GB LTE version costs $499. What’s more surprising is that both devices will feature expandable memory, a feature which is missing from the previous Nexus devices.
The source further mentioned that most of the specifications we’ve heard in the past few weeks are correct. There’s an 8.9-inch display sporting a resolution of 2048 by 1440 pixels, a 64-Bit Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, 8MP rear camera for photos and videos, 3MP front-facing camera, and Android L as its operating system.
We’ll update you as soon as the tablet, as well as the handset, is officially announced. Until then, take it with a grain of salt.
