Since construction started on the new Apple Spaceship Campus last year, we have seen a number of videos showing the progress of Apple’s ambitious project.
Now we have another video which was taken by Myithz using a drone. This one has been recorded in 4K and it gives us a good look at how the project is progressing.
Overview of the Apple Spaceship Campus
The Apple Spaceship Campus, officially known as Apple Park, is expected to be completed in 2016. It will be home to more than 12,000 Apple staff and the main building will measure 2.8 million square feet. The design of the campus is a testament to Apple’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. The circular, spaceship-like structure is not only visually striking but also incorporates cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly features.
Under the main building, there will be a parking garage for 2,400 cars, ensuring ample parking space for employees and visitors. The campus will also be made up of a number of other buildings, including a Research & Development center. This R&D center will be crucial for Apple’s future innovations, providing a state-of-the-art environment for engineers and designers to develop new products and technologies.
Innovative Features and Sustainability
One of the most remarkable aspects of the Apple Spaceship Campus is its focus on sustainability. The campus will be powered by 100% renewable energy, thanks to an extensive network of solar panels installed on the roof of the main building. These panels are expected to generate around 17 megawatts of power, making it one of the largest on-site solar energy installations in the world.
In addition to solar power, the campus will utilize natural ventilation systems, reducing the need for traditional heating and cooling. The building is designed to breathe naturally, with windows that automatically open and close to regulate temperature and air quality. This innovative approach not only conserves energy but also creates a healthier and more comfortable environment for employees.
The landscape design of the campus is another highlight. Apple has planted over 9,000 drought-resistant trees, including fruit trees, which will create a lush, green environment. The central courtyard, known as the “inner ring,” will feature walking paths, ponds, and meadows, providing a serene space for employees to relax and recharge.
Furthermore, the campus will include a state-of-the-art fitness center, a visitor center with an Apple Store and café, and a 1,000-seat auditorium named the Steve Jobs Theater. This theater will host future Apple product launches and events, continuing the legacy of Apple’s iconic presentations.
The construction of the Apple Spaceship Campus has not been without its challenges. The sheer scale and complexity of the project have required meticulous planning and coordination. However, the end result promises to be a groundbreaking example of modern architecture and sustainable design.
The Apple Spaceship Campus is more than just a new headquarters for Apple. It represents the company’s vision for the future, combining cutting-edge technology with a deep commitment to sustainability and employee well-being. As the project nears completion, it will undoubtedly become a landmark in Silicon Valley and a symbol of Apple’s enduring innovation.
