A new surveillance camera system has been developed by Hitachi Kokusai Electric, that is capable or reading 36 million faces in just one second.
The camera can detect a face from either a regular photo or from surveillance footage, and the search results are immediately displayed.
“This high speed is achieved by detecting faces through image recognition when the footage from the camera is recorded, and also by grouping similar faces.”
