Razer recently announced that they are holding a press conference on the 1st of November. The company is expected to unveil its first Razer Smartphone. Razer previously acquired smartphone maker Nextbit, known for creating the Nextbit Robin device.
It looks like we have some specifications for the new Razer Smartphone as the handset recently appeared in some benchmarks from GFXBench.
Impressive Specifications
According to the benchmarks, the new Razer Phone will come with some impressive specifications. The handset will feature a 5.7-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, ensuring a sharp and vibrant visual experience. This high-resolution display is particularly beneficial for gaming and media consumption, providing users with clear and detailed images.
The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile processor, which is known for its high performance and efficiency. This processor will be paired with a substantial 8GB of RAM, making it one of the most powerful smartphones on the market. The 64GB of internal storage will provide ample space for apps, games, and media, although it is not yet clear if the storage will be expandable via a microSD card.
Camera and Software
In terms of camera capabilities, the Razer Smartphone will come equipped with an 8-megapixel front camera, ideal for selfies and video calls. The rear camera will be a 12-megapixel shooter capable of recording 4K video. This combination of cameras suggests that the device will be well-suited for both photography enthusiasts and casual users alike.
The Razer Smartphone is listed in the benchmarks as running Android 7.1.1 Nougat. While this is not the latest version of Android, it is still a very capable operating system with a range of features and optimizations. Given Razer’s focus on gaming, it is likely that the device will come with some custom software enhancements to improve the gaming experience. This could include features such as game optimization settings, enhanced cooling mechanisms, and possibly even a dedicated gaming mode.
Focus on Mobile Gaming
Razer has a strong reputation in the gaming industry, and it is expected that the Razer Smartphone will be heavily focused on mobile gaming. The combination of a high-resolution display, powerful processor, and ample RAM suggests that the device will be capable of running the latest and most demanding mobile games with ease. Additionally, Razer may include some of its proprietary gaming technologies, such as Chroma lighting or custom game controllers, to further enhance the gaming experience.
The acquisition of Nextbit and the development of the Razer Smartphone indicate that Razer is serious about entering the mobile market. The company has a history of creating high-quality gaming hardware, and it will be interesting to see how this expertise translates to the smartphone market.
