Mini has announced that it is launching face-lifted versions of their MINI John Cooper Works, which also includes a new convertible model. This update brings not only aesthetic enhancements but also significant improvements in performance and efficiency.
The updated MINI John Cooper Works models are now designed to be more efficient and meet the Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard. This is a crucial step forward in reducing the environmental impact of these high-performance vehicles.
Enhanced Emissions Technology
In the MINI John Cooper Works and in the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible, the petrol engine particulate filter is integrated into the standard sports exhaust emissions system. This ensures that the dynamic power delivery of the 2.0 litre, 170 kW/231 hp 4-cylinder engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo technology generates a distinctively sporty sound while ensuring exemplary exhaust emissions behavior. Both John Cooper Works models now meet the especially stringent Euro 6d TEMP emissions standard. The introduction of the latest exhaust emissions reduction technology has no influence on the exemplary fuel consumption and CO2 values of both top athletes.
The Euro 6d-TEMP standard is one of the most stringent emissions regulations in the world, aimed at reducing the levels of harmful pollutants emitted by vehicles. By meeting this standard, the MINI John Cooper Works models not only comply with current regulations but also set a benchmark for future automotive developments. This makes them a more sustainable choice for environmentally conscious consumers who do not want to compromise on performance.
Performance and Efficiency
The 2.0-liter engine in these models is equipped with MINI TwinPower Turbo technology, which includes a twin-scroll turbocharger, direct fuel injection, and fully variable valve control. This combination ensures that the engine delivers high power output and torque while maintaining fuel efficiency. The engine produces 231 hp, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds for the hardtop model and 6.6 seconds for the convertible.
Moreover, the integration of the particulate filter into the exhaust system does not affect the car’s fuel consumption or CO2 emissions. This means that drivers can enjoy the same thrilling performance without worrying about increased fuel costs or environmental impact. The fuel consumption for the MINI John Cooper Works is approximately 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers, and CO2 emissions are around 158 grams per kilometer.
In addition to the engine enhancements, the updated models feature improved aerodynamics and lightweight construction. These changes contribute to better handling and stability, making the driving experience even more exhilarating. The suspension system has also been fine-tuned to provide a perfect balance between comfort and sportiness.
The interior of the new MINI John Cooper Works models has been upgraded with high-quality materials and advanced technology. Drivers can enjoy features such as a digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system, and advanced driver assistance systems. These additions make the car not only a joy to drive but also a pleasure to be in.
