British Gas has this week introduced newly updated hardware to monitor your heating and provide home automation, unveiling its new range of products that include a redesigned Hive Thermostat.
Together with new smart plugs, as well as motion and lighting sensors that all combine to help you control your heating, lighting and security around your home.
The new Hive Thermostat and sensors have been released following on from the acquisition by British Gas of AlertMe, the platform for easy home automation. Kassir Hussain, Director of British Gas Connected Homes, explained :
We’re starting by adding our own products to the Honeycomb platform, as we open it up we’ll work with a number of trusted brands and partners too. Expect further announcements on this over the coming months.
The latest Hive Thermostat has received a complete redesign and now allows users to change more of the functions directly from the device without the need to use the accompanying smartphone application.
The newly updated Hive Active Heating 2 thermostat is available to buy from today and is priced at £249 including installation. Although for a limited time existing Hive customers can upgrade for just £99.
