BMW has announced a refreshed version of their BMW 2 Series Coupe and 2 Series Convertible, and the new cars get a number of upgrades over the current models. These updates are designed to enhance both the aesthetic appeal and the performance of the vehicles, ensuring they remain competitive in the premium compact class.
The new BMW 2 Series Coupe and 2 Series Convertible get some new LED headlights, a new range of wheels, and a new updated, wider kidney grill. These changes are not just cosmetic; they also contribute to improved aerodynamics and better visibility, enhancing the overall driving experience.
Enhanced Interior and Connectivity
Inside, the new models feature a range of interior upgrades that aim to provide a more luxurious and comfortable driving environment. The materials used in the cabin have been upgraded, with higher-quality finishes and more attention to detail. The dashboard has been redesigned to be more driver-centric, with controls that are easier to reach and use.
In terms of technology, the new BMW 2 Series models come equipped with the latest connectivity services. This includes an updated infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing drivers to seamlessly integrate their smartphones with the car’s system. Additionally, the cars come with a range of driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking, making them safer and more convenient to drive.
The BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible have raised the bar in the premium compact class in terms of dynamic prowess, aesthetic appeal, and emotional richness. Scheduled for launch in July 2017, the new models promise to build on this successful concept. They feature sharper front-end styling, LED headlights fitted as standard, further interior upgrades, and new connectivity services. And they also offer unbeatable sports performance, courtesy of rear-wheel drive (unique in the segment) working in tandem with efficient power transfer systems. More than 140,000 units of the Leipzig-built models have been delivered to customers so far. The biggest markets are the USA, Great Britain, and Germany.
Performance and Driving Dynamics
One of the standout features of the new BMW 2 Series models is their performance. Both the Coupe and Convertible are equipped with rear-wheel drive, which is unique in this segment and contributes to their sporty handling characteristics. The cars are powered by a range of efficient and powerful engines, including turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder options. These engines are paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, providing drivers with a choice of driving experiences.
The suspension system has also been fine-tuned to offer a balance between comfort and agility. The cars come with adaptive dampers that can adjust to different driving conditions, ensuring a smooth ride on the highway and sharp handling on twisty roads. Additionally, the steering system has been updated to provide more precise feedback, making the cars more engaging to drive.
The new BMW 2 Series models also come with a range of optional performance upgrades, such as a limited-slip differential and high-performance brakes. These options allow drivers to further enhance the driving dynamics of their cars, making them even more capable on the track or during spirited driving on back roads.
