Specifications and Features
As a reminder, the Priv comes with a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor and 3GB of RAM, ensuring smooth performance for multitasking and running demanding applications. There is 32GB of included storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card slot, allowing users to add up to an additional 2TB of storage. This makes the Priv a versatile device for those who need ample space for apps, photos, and videos.
The handset also comes with a 5.4-inch curved display that has a Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, offering vibrant colors and sharp details. This makes it ideal for media consumption, gaming, and productivity tasks. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which provides durability and resistance to scratches and minor drops.
For photography enthusiasts, the Priv features an 18-megapixel rear camera with Schneider-Kreuznach optics, optical image stabilization (OIS), and dual-LED flash. This setup ensures high-quality photos even in low-light conditions. The camera also supports 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. On the front, there is a 2-megapixel camera, which is suitable for video calls and selfies.
Software and Security
One of the standout features of the BlackBerry Priv is its focus on security. As the first BlackBerry device powered by Android, it combines the rich app ecosystem of Android with BlackBerry’s renowned security features. The device comes pre-loaded with DTEK by BlackBerry, an app that monitors and provides feedback on the security status of your device. It alerts users to potential privacy risks and offers recommendations to improve security.
The Priv also includes BlackBerry’s proprietary software enhancements, such as the BlackBerry Hub, which consolidates all your communications into one unified inbox. This includes emails, texts, social media updates, and more, making it easier to manage your interactions.
Additionally, the Priv supports Android for Work, which allows users to separate personal and work data on the same device. This is particularly useful for professionals who need to maintain a clear distinction between their personal and professional lives.
