Audi announced their new Audi R8 in the US back in October and now the company is launching the car in the UK.
The Audi R8 is launching in the UK in 2019 and Audi will start to take orders on the car from early January 2019.
The power of the naturally aspirated V10 engine at the heart of the R8 is now uprated to 570PS in the ‘standard’ R8 Coupé and Spyder V10 quattro. The top V10 plus versions in each body style will in future carry the name ‘V10 performance’, aligning them with the most powerful models elsewhere in the Audi lineup.
Enhanced Performance and Design
The new Audi R8 is not just about raw power; it also boasts significant enhancements in design and technology. The exterior has been refined to improve aerodynamics, featuring a wider and flatter Singleframe grille, and air intakes that are more prominent. These changes not only give the car a more aggressive look but also contribute to its performance by improving airflow and cooling.
Inside, the R8 continues to offer a driver-focused cockpit with high-quality materials and advanced technology. The Virtual Cockpit display provides all the necessary information directly in front of the driver, reducing the need to look away from the road. The infotainment system is also upgraded, offering better connectivity and a more intuitive interface.
“The R8 occupies a unique position for Audi in every respect,” says Michael Julius Renz, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH. “It’s now even more powerful and faster.” adds Oliver Hoffmann, Technical Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH: “Motorsport is part of our DNA. With around 50 percent shared parts with the R8 LMS GT3, no other automobile is so close to motor racing as the R8.”
Advanced Technology and Features
The 2019 Audi R8 comes equipped with a host of advanced features designed to enhance both performance and safety. The car includes Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system, which provides exceptional grip and stability, especially in challenging driving conditions. The magnetic ride suspension system adjusts the damping force on each wheel, ensuring a smooth and controlled ride.
Another notable feature is the dynamic steering system, which adjusts the steering ratio based on the car’s speed and the driver’s input. This makes the R8 more agile at low speeds and more stable at high speeds. Additionally, the car is equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, which offer superior stopping power and are more resistant to fade during high-performance driving.
