There will be a number of new cars announced at the Paris Motor Show next week, one of those will be the new Audi Q5.
Audi have now released a new teaser video for the new Q5, which you can see below and it gives us a hint and some of the changes coming to the new Q5.
Platform and Weight Savings
The updated Audi Q5 will switch to Volkswagen’s MLB platform, which is used in the new Audi A4. This change is significant as it will allow Audi to make major weight savings on the Q5. The MLB platform, known for its lightweight construction and advanced engineering, will contribute to improved fuel efficiency and better handling dynamics. The reduction in weight will not only enhance the vehicle’s performance but also its overall driving experience, making it more agile and responsive on the road.
Design and Features
The new Q5 is said to be more upmarket and refined than the current model. It may share some design characteristics with the new Audi Q2, which was announced recently. The exterior design is expected to feature sharper lines and a more aggressive stance, giving it a modern and sophisticated look. Inside, the cabin will likely be upgraded with high-quality materials and the latest technology, including Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, a fully digital instrument cluster that provides a customizable display of important driving information.
In addition to the aesthetic improvements, the new Q5 is expected to come with a host of advanced safety features. These may include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking, all designed to enhance driver and passenger safety. The infotainment system will also see upgrades, with a larger touchscreen display, improved connectivity options, and support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Performance and Engine Options
While specific details about the engine options for the new Q5 have not been officially released, it is anticipated that Audi will offer a range of powertrains to suit different driving preferences. These could include a turbocharged four-cylinder engine for those seeking a balance of performance and efficiency, as well as a more powerful V6 engine for those who desire a sportier driving experience. There may also be a plug-in hybrid variant, providing an eco-friendly option with the ability to drive on electric power alone for short distances.
Market Position and Competitors
The Audi Q5 has always been a popular choice in the luxury compact SUV segment, competing with models like the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Volvo XC60. With the updates and improvements in the new Q5, Audi aims to strengthen its position in this competitive market. The combination of advanced technology, refined design, and enhanced performance will likely appeal to a wide range of buyers, from young professionals to families looking for a versatile and stylish vehicle.
We will have more information on the updated Q5 when it is made official next week. Stay tuned for further details and a comprehensive review once the vehicle is unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.
