Details of a new smartphone headed to US mobile carrier AT&T have been leaked, the NEC Terrain, which you can see in the photo below. The handset will come with Google’s Android OS and it features a full QWERTY keyboard.
As yet, we do not have any specifications on the NEC Terrain. There are no details on what version of Android it will run, although from the looks of the photo, it could be Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Design and Build
The NEC Terrain appears to be designed with durability and functionality in mind. The full QWERTY keyboard is a notable feature, catering to users who prefer physical keys over touchscreens for typing. This could make the NEC Terrain particularly appealing to business professionals and users who frequently send emails or text messages. The rugged design suggests that the phone might be built to withstand tough conditions, making it a potential choice for outdoor enthusiasts or those working in demanding environments.
Potential Features and Specifications
While we await the official specifications, we can speculate on some potential features based on the current trends and the phone’s design. The NEC Terrain might come with a mid-range processor, sufficient for everyday tasks such as browsing, emailing, and using social media apps. Given its QWERTY keyboard, the screen size might be smaller compared to modern smartphones, possibly around 3 to 3.5 inches, which would still provide a decent display for its intended use.
The camera setup is another aspect to consider. While it may not compete with high-end smartphones, it could feature a basic rear camera, possibly around 5 to 8 megapixels, suitable for casual photography. The front camera might be modest, aimed at video calls rather than high-quality selfies.
Connectivity options are likely to include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and possibly NFC for mobile payments. The battery life could be a strong point, especially if the device is designed for rugged use, potentially featuring a removable battery for easy replacement.
We do not have any information on when the NEC Terrain will be available on Android. As soon as we get some more details, including full specifications for the device, we will let you guys know.
