If you are looking for a personal gift for your loved one, these Music Drop 3D printed custom music boxes that allow you to create your very own tune might be worth more investigation.

The Music Drop tune creation app allows you to compose your very own and very personal 16-note tune to be included with the Music Drop music box which is then 3D printed in one of three colours.

Each Music Drop is 3D printed and assembled by hand at Left Field Labs and what started as an experiment turned out to be a great exercise in bringing an idea into the tangible world with the help of technology, say Music Drop.

“Since the 18th century, people have embraced the charm of the music box – a compact music player originally built on the mechanics and tradition of artisan watchmaking. Seemingly antiquated but somehow timeless, we especially loved this handheld application of the technologies of the time, all in an effort to create a very human moment of delight.

We are all about using technology to help humans be, well, more human, and so we updated this small device with some of the emerging technologies of our time. We wanted to create a modern day adaptation to put tech and cheer right in your hand.

Excited to see what we could do with 3D printing capabilities and with learnings from some of our more recent projects and experiments, we were attracted to the idea of tapping into the recent shift towards personalized, small-scale fabrication.”
