MSI has today announced a new addition to their range of laptops with the launch of the new MSI GS40 Phantom gaming laptop that is equipped with a Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz (3.5 GHz Turbo Boost) processor supported by 16GB of DDR4 2133 MHz RAM.
The MSI GS40 comes supplied running Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 operating system and is fitted with a 14-inch non-reflective display providing users with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at a ratio of 16:9.
Graphics processing is handled by the included Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M with 3 GB GDDR5 and storage by the 128 GB PCIe Gen3x4 SSD and 1 TB SATA 7200 RPM HDD. Other features include connectivity via Killer E2400 Game Networking and wireless Killer N1525 Combo as well as a SDHC card reader, 1080p web camera and SteelSeries single colour backlit keyboard. MSI explains :
Skylake is codename of the brand new 14nm micro-architecture of Intel’s latest 6th generation processors. The Skylake platform requires lower power consumption but delivers better performance than before. CPU performance of Core i7 6700HQ is 20% faster than i7 4720HQ under average usage. For optional models of GT series, will have special version of Core i7 6820HK with overclock capability from 3.7GHz to over 4GHz, the overclock frequency may differ depends on the CPU capability.
