Mozilla has launched a new Gamepad API (application programming interface) that will allow developers to use either USB or Bluetooth connected gaming controllers within its Firefox browser.
Its hope the new Gamepad API will enable game developers to be able to add a new level to online gaming using the Firefox browser. Watch a demonstration video after the jump to see the Gamepad API in action.
Until now gaming controllers were only the domain of game consoles and desktop games, and if you wanted to play any browser based games your keyboard and mouse where your only option. Mozilla is now hoping to change this and take online web gaming to a new level.
