Mophie released their latest battery backup for the iPhone a few weeks ago, the Mophie Juice Pack Air, so we thought it was about time to put it through its paces and see how well it does as a battery backup for the iPhone 3G.
We have previously tested the Mophie Juice Pack 3G, which does a good job a keeping your battery charged whilst you are on the go.
The Mophie Juice Pack Air is slightly different than the previous chargers from Mophie, rather than being an add on it is an actual case which will protect your iPhone as well as keep it juiced up.
The case comes in two parts, and the top of the case comes off, you can then slide your iPhone neatly into the case and replace the top.
Comparing the Mophie Juice Pack Air to the previous Juice Pack, it is a lot lets bulky, and fits the iPhone nicely, making it feel more like a case than an add on battery pack.
As you can see from the photo above, it is quite a bit slimmer than the previous model, although it does still add some extra bulk to your iPhone 3G, but this is a small price to pay for the extra battery life.
The only downside of being slimmer than its predecessor is that it offers slightly less battery life, although the battery life is still pretty good providing up to 270 hours of standby time, up to 9 hours of talk time on 2G, 4.5 hours on 3G.
Internet browsing comes in at up to 4.5 hours over 3G and up to 5.4 hours over WiFi, you will also get up to 20 hours of audio playback, and up to 6 hours of video playback.
One addition the Juice Pack Air has over thr previous model is an on / off switch that lets you turn your charger off when you have finished charging your iPhone, and continue to use it as a case, this is quite useful as it would be a pain taking it in and out of the case when you have finished charging it.
We have been testing the Juice Pack Air over the last couple of days, and it does a pretty good job at keeping your iPhone charge and provides much needed additional power.
If you are the sort of person who is constantly on your iPhone, (like me), then I would definitely recommend the Mophie Juice Pack Air, although it wont give you as much battery power than the previous model, I think it is worth sacrificing some battery to have a much slimmer and more streamline case.
The Mophie Juice Pack Air is available in the US for $79.95 from Mophie.com and in the UK from MophieUK.com
We will be giving away this Mophie Juice Pack air to one lucky reader in one of our future Geeky Gadgets Giveaways.
