Mitsubishi has announced that it will be having an auction for the very first of 1600 Evo Final Edition cars that will be available in the US. Proceeds from that auction will benefit the National MS Society, Pacific South Coast chapter. The auction isn’t taking place at some exclusive gala, it is taking place on eBay and is underway now.
The auction kicked off on November 11 and will end on November 21 during a special dinner for the event. As of now, the car has been bid up to a bit over $37,000. The auction isn’t a normal open eBay auction though; it is closed to all but approved bidders.
If you want to get on the approved bidders list, you have to email the seller and get on the list. It’s unclear exactly what being approved to be on the list entails. The Evo had a ten-year production run and the Final Edition is based on the GSR with upgraded suspension, all-wheel drive, and a 303hp turbo 2.0L four-cylinder engine.
“Mitsubishi Motors has been involved with the National MS Society for more than 16 years, raising money through a variety of activities and event sponsorships,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president, MMNA. “It was only fitting that this year, to enhance our title sponsorship of the event, we donate something that means so much to the brand. By expanding the auction nationally, we hope to increase our donation to a charity that is near and dear to the hearts of everyone at Mitsubishi.”
