A military contractor called Raytheon is working on an application for Apple’s iPhone which is designed to be used by the military, the application is called One Force Tracker.
The One Force Tracker iPhone app is designed to give the soldiers using the up a constantly updating map, with detailed information on both friendly and enemy positions.
Solutions specially designed for iPhone and iPod touch that can be used in military, tactical intelligence, law enforcement, and public safety environments where access to live, real-time information is essential. Among the offerings envisioned: A new situational awareness application based on military messaging standards that provides multimedia access, audio and textual points of interest, free text messaging, collaborative planning, spot reports, and call for emergency or fire.
There are other companies working on iPhone applications designed to aid the military, one is called Bulletflight, which is designed to help snipers hit their targets.
