Microsoft has announced that their new HoloLens Development Edition headset and SDK will be launching in the first quarter of 2016 priced at $3,000.
To re-cap the Microsoft HoloLens takes the form of an untethered, holographic headset equipped with a computer that enables high-definition holograms to integrate with the real world.
Microsoft explains a little more :
With Microsoft HoloLens you’ll see the Minecraft world, and gaming, in a whole new way. Untethered and in mixed reality, nearly any surface can become a portal. Navigate and manipulate with gestures and voice, and interact in a more dynamic play space.

Microsoft HoloLens is made up of specialized components that together enable holographic computing. The optical system that works in lock-step with advanced sensors. The HPU that makes light work of processing a large amount of data per second. All those components and more enable you to move freely and interact with holograms.
