Microsoft has announced that their new HoloLens Development Edition headset and SDK will be launching in the first quarter of 2016 priced at $3,000.
To re-cap the Microsoft HoloLens takes the form of an untethered, holographic headset equipped with a computer that enables high-definition holograms to integrate with the real world.
Microsoft explains a little more :
With Microsoft HoloLens you’ll see the Minecraft world, and gaming, in a whole new way. Untethered and in mixed reality, nearly any surface can become a portal. Navigate and manipulate with gestures and voice, and interact in a more dynamic play space.
Create and shape holograms with gestures. Communicate with apps using your voice. Navigate with a glance. Microsoft HoloLens understands your gestures, gaze, and voice, enabling you to interact in the most natural way possible.
Microsoft HoloLens is made up of specialized components that together enable holographic computing. The optical system that works in lock-step with advanced sensors. The HPU that makes light work of processing a large amount of data per second. All those components and more enable you to move freely and interact with holograms.
