Tesla is currently dominating the EV market with its Model S able to go hundreds of miles per charge. The car also has lots luxury and is rated as one of the best automobiles in the world. That all makes Mercedes unhappy and the company is hard at work on an EV that it will use to combat Tesla. Mercedes’ Thomas Webber, R&D boss, said that the MB EV would have an up to a 311-mile driving range.
Specifically he said that the EV would be able to go somewhere between 228 miles and 311 miles on a full charge. The exec also said that the EV would be coming “soon.” Soon in the car world can mean several years.
Whenever the car lands, you can bet that it will have lots of luxury, something Mercedes is already known for. Driving range is what it is all about in the EV world. Range anxiety is one of the reasons why many people stay away from an EV altogether. Tesla will still have some big benefits over anything Mercedes might produce, namely the Supercharger network of charging stations around the country that are free to use by Tesla owners.
