Mattel this week unveiled their second generation View-Master headset in the form of the Mattel VR View-Master 2.0 which supports both Android and iOS devices and offers a plastic smartphone virtual reality headset, that will be launching later this year during the fall of 2016.
The Mattel VR View-Master 2.0 builds on the design of the previous generation and fixes many of the issues and problems experienced by users, creating a more advanced VR headset to be used with your smartphone.
The new design now allows users to insert a wider range of smartphone sizes and no longer requires a separate plastic adapter for smartphones the size of the Apple iPhone 5. The new model also includes headphone jack allowing you to connect headphones or separate speakers if required.
When the Mattel VR View-Master 2.0 headset launches later this year it will be priced at $40 a slight increase over the previous model but with the extra features may be well worth the price if you enjoy virtual reality smartphone viewing. Mattel explains :
View-Master believes you are not limited by where you stand, but where your mind can take you. Through an easy-to-use and affordable platform, the View-Master VR viewer works with your compatible smartphone to blend Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, creating a magical experience that will inspire a lifetime of curiosity and deep exploration. Step into an amazing virtual world with just three items: a View-Master viewer, an Experience Pack, and your compatible iOS or Android smartphone.
