Xbox One owners who received an invitation from Microsoft via email to preview next month’s Xbox One update ahead of its official release, have this week been revealing the features and enhancements you can expect to enjoy once the March update is released.
The next Xbox One update will include multiplayer and party system enhancements together with the already announced Twitch streaming features as well as the highly anticipated enabling of Dolby Digital audio.
Before this latest Xbox One update the sound settings on Xbox One console provided gamers with two areas to adjust in the form of the HDMI and optical audio options. Using HDMI you had the ability to select stereo uncompressed, 5.1 uncompressed, 7.1 uncompressed, and DTS Digital Surround, and using optical sound the options where stereo uncompressed and 5.1 uncompressed.
Now Microsoft has added “Bitstream out” which has been added to the HDMI audio settings with the optical audio settings changed to offer stereo uncompressed and Bitstream out with a third menu option for modifying the bitstream format with selections for DTS Digital Surround or Dolby Digital.
For those Xbox One games that didn’t receive an invitation from Microsoft to preview the latest update, it next update will be made available to all Xbox One users on March 11, 2014.
