LG announced their latest smartwatch at IFA earlier this month, the LG G Watch R, but now it would appear that the company has another LG Smartwatch in the works.
A new LG Smartwatch has appeared at the FCC, although this version is slightly different, as it comes with built-in 3G and support for CDMA, which means that it could be headed to Verizon or Sprint.
New Features and Connectivity
This new LG Watch comes with the model numbers LG-VC100, and there appear to be a couple of variants, which could be one version for Sprint and the other for Verizon. The inclusion of 3G connectivity is a significant upgrade, allowing the smartwatch to operate independently of a smartphone for tasks such as making calls, sending messages, and accessing the internet. This feature could make the device more appealing to users who prefer a more autonomous wearable technology experience.
As yet we do not know any specifications on this new LG Smartwatch, what we do know is that the watch will measure 58.3mm by 39.8mm without the strap, which are slightly different dimensions to the new LG G Watch R. The size suggests a more compact and possibly more comfortable design for everyday wear.
Expected Specifications and Features
As with previous smartwatches from LG, this new device is expected to run Google’s Android Wear OS. Android Wear has been a popular choice for many smartwatch manufacturers due to its seamless integration with Android smartphones and its extensive app ecosystem. Users can expect features such as Google Assistant, fitness tracking, notifications, and customizable watch faces.
The potential for built-in GPS is another exciting possibility. This would enhance the smartwatch’s functionality for fitness enthusiasts, allowing for accurate tracking of outdoor activities without needing to carry a smartphone. Additionally, the watch could include heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and other health-related features that have become standard in modern smartwatches.
Another aspect to consider is the battery life. With the addition of 3G connectivity, battery efficiency will be crucial. LG will need to balance the power consumption of the new features with the need for a device that can last at least a full day on a single charge. Fast charging capabilities could also be a significant selling point.
Design-wise, LG has been known for its sleek and modern aesthetics. The new smartwatch is likely to follow this trend, possibly offering various strap options and materials to cater to different tastes and preferences. Water resistance is another feature that users have come to expect, making the device suitable for various environments and activities.
As soon as we get some more details on this new LG Smartwatch, including some photos of the device, and also some specifications, we will let you guys know. The anticipation for this new model is high, especially with the added 3G capabilities, which could set it apart from other smartwatches currently on the market.
