If you carry a Leatherman multitool, Swiss Army knife or similar in your pocket or on your bag and keychain, you may be interested in a new wearable multitool called the Leatherman Tread, that has been recently launched and designed to be “security friendly”.
The Leatherman Tread takes the form of a bracelet or watch strap that is worn on your wrist and provides easy access to 25 different tools, when you need them most.
The Leatherman Tread has been reconstructed using high strength, corrosion resistant 17-4 stainless steel links that include two to three functional tools on each.Adding up to make a total of 25 usable features such as box wrenches and screwdrivers all which are available at a moment’s notice. Leatherman President Ben Rivera explains :
“The idea originated on a trip to Disneyland with my family,”-“I was stopped at the gate by security for carrying a knife, when what they had actually seen was my Skeletool. I was unwilling to give it up, so they made me take it all the way back to my hotel room. I knew there had to be another way to carry my tools with me that would be accepted by security.”
