New Kobo Forma waterproof e-reader $280

New Kobo Forma e-reader

E-reader designer and manufacturer Rakuten Kobo has today introduced a new addition to their range in the form of the Kobo Forma a waterproof e-reader that is capable of being submerged into metres of water for up to 60 minutes without any damage. Fitted with an 8 inch 300 PPI E Ink Carta display offering users a resolution of 1440 × 1920 pixels, the new reader will be launching soon and pre-ordering will start on October 16th, 2018.

Weighing 197 g and measuring 160 x 177.7 x 8.5mm the Kobo Forma e-reader is equipped with 8 GB of internal storage together with a front facing ComfortLight PRO with settings allowing users to adjust the colour temperature of the light to suit their requirements.

Other features of the e-reader include TypeGenius offering users 11 different fonts and over 50 font styles to choose from as well as exclusive font weight and sharpness settings, says Kobo. 14 file formats are supported natively including : EPUB, EPUB3, PDF, MOBI, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF, TXT, HTML, RTF, CBZ, and CBR.

Fitted with a rechargeable 1200 mAh battery the e-reader is capable of running for weeks at a time from a single charge and is fitted with connectivity via both micro-USB and wireless 802.11 b/g/n.
