Dark Mode is supposed to make a difference to battery life on OLED iPhones compared to Light Mode and now we have a test of iOS 13 Dark Mode vs Light Mode.
The video from PhoneBuff tests iOS 13 Dark Mode vs Light Mode on the iPhone 10 XS Max, let see if there is any major difference in battery life between the two modes on the devices.
As we can see from the video the Dark Mode lasted considerably longer than the Light Mode test with around 30% more battery life.
That is quite a saving on battery life by using Dark Mode on the iPhone, this feature will only work on OLED models of the iPhone and not LCD models. It will also work on any OLED Android device that you use Dark Mode on.
The reason for the extra battery life is that on OLED smartphones the black parts of the display do not use any power, on LCD smartphones the black parts use the same power as other colors. If you have an OLED iPhone or an OLED Android device and want to get maximum battery life you should try out dark mode.
