A new Internet addiction clinic opened its doors as a private London hospital for the first time this week. Becoming the UK’s first dedicated technology addiction clinic.
The Addiction clinic is hoping to help children as young as 12 with their internet issues. But its mainly aimed at 15-17 years olds who cannot tear themselves away from the internet, computer games or their mobile phones. Providing them with help through intensive in-patient, day care or group therapy.
“I’ve been contacted by parents who see their children going into a rage when they’re told to turn off their computer” “with some having to call the police” Richard Graham, lead consultant at Capio Nightingale Hospital, told the London Evening Standard.
Addicted users will be encouraged to switch off their technology and interact face-to-face with people rather than using an online environment.
