A couple of new single-board computer boards have been unveiled this week In the form of the new MinnowBoard which is set to start shipping in June of this year starting from around $99.
Specifications for the new MinnowBoard Max include options for either a 1.46 GHz Intel Atom E3815 single-core processor supported by 1 GB of RAM in the entry-level board for the $99.
Or if you are looking for a little bit more power than is also a version available with a 1.33 GHz Intel Atom E3825 dual-core processor supported by 2 GB of RAM for $129. Both are based on the Silvermont low power technology as included in Intel’s Bay Trail processors.
Both models have been designed specifically for the embedded market for running applications such as digital signage, point-of-sale systems or ATMs. Other features include HDMI, 1 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 2.0, and Ethernet port, 8MB of internal memory to store your firmware, and a microSD card for expansion when required.
