Huawei are currently securing a deal with London Underground that will allow them to install a Cellular Network in London’s Underground railway system ready for the up and coming 2012 Olympics.
The deal would include telecoms equipment provided by Huawei, with installation and maintenance work carried out by Thales. It is estimated that the system will cost in excess of £100 million, with the telecoms equipment being installed along the roof of the Underground’s tunnels.
But due to the time constraints and Huawei being the only hardware supplier currently in the talks to setup the system. There are some worries that the installation might not be the right thing to rush, and a little more choice, as well as time, would ensure a quality job.
