We’ve heard a few times over the past few months that HTC is apparently in line to make the Nexus Phone. It didn’t happen in 2015 as Huawei and LG managed to be the ones to launch the 2015 Nexus phones, but it seems things may change this year.
According to a new report, HTC may have inked a three year exclusive deal with Google to manufacture the Nexus smartphones.
This means that for the next three years, HTC will be Google’s go to manufacturer for the Nexus phones. There’s no word about the Nexus tablets in the report, so there’s a possibility that some other manufacturer may get the chance to launch them.
The Nexus tablets weren’t too profitable for the company, so it’s likely that the company may launch the tablets itself or still stick with any of the existing manufacturers.
The long term deal is quite odd as Google has switched manufacturers every year — most of the time — when it comes to Nexus devices, but things may change in the future. We’ll update you if we get to hear anything more about the news.
