Last year, Google released not one, but two new Nexus devices. One of them was the high-end Nexus 6P while the Nexus 5X came with mid-range specifications and a budget-friendly price tag.
Now, it seems the search engine giant will continue to follow the same pattern this year as well. According to a new rumor, Google will launch two new Nexus devices this year: one carrying a 5-inch display while the other one will boast a 5.5-inch display.
The new screen sizes are a little smaller than the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X — the former ships with a 5.7-inch display while the other one comes with a 5.2-inch screen. It’s not entirely impossible for Google to reduce the screen size as they have done so with the Nexus 6P as well.
What’s more surprising is that both Nexus devices will be manufactured by HTC. The Taiwanese company is facing financial difficulties due to declining sales, but if it’s true, this could be ray of hope for the company. However, the analyst who is the source of this rumor believes that it’s not going to help HTC much in getting rid of their problems. The company did introduce the Nexus 9 tablet, which wasn’t a big success in the tablet market, and the same is possible for the handsets as well.
Huawei, the company who manufactured the high-end Nexus 6P, apparently lost to HTC. Nonetheless, we’ll advise our readers to take it with a lot of salt as there’s no confirmation from the company or any credible source at the moment. We’ll update you if we get to hear anything more about the upcoming Nexus devices.
