Palm is back with a new Palm phone, maybe not in the way everyone was expecting as the company has released a tiny Android phone with a 3.3 inch display.
The handset is being sold exclusively by Verizon Wireless in the US and it is basically designed to be a secondary smartphone that you take with you when you don’t want to carry your normal phone about.
Deiter Bohn from the Verge goes Hands on with this new mini Android device, have a look at the video below.
Design and Features
The new Palm phone is designed to be ultra-portable, fitting comfortably in the palm of your hand, hence the name. It features a 3.3-inch HD display, which is significantly smaller than most modern smartphones. This compact size makes it ideal for those who want a device that is easy to carry around without the bulk of a larger phone. The phone runs on Android, giving users access to a wide range of apps and services available on the Google Play Store.
One of the standout features of the Palm phone is its “Life Mode,” which helps users disconnect from the constant barrage of notifications and distractions. When Life Mode is activated, the phone silences incoming calls and notifications, allowing users to focus on the task at hand. This feature is particularly useful for those who want to minimize screen time and be more present in their daily lives.
Use Cases and Practicality
The concept of a secondary phone may seem unusual to some, but it has its practical applications. For instance, athletes and fitness enthusiasts might find the Palm phone to be a perfect companion during workouts. Its small size and lightweight design make it easy to carry while running or exercising, without the need for a bulky armband or pocket space.
Parents might also find the Palm phone useful for their children. It provides a way to stay connected without giving them a full-fledged smartphone, which can be a source of distraction and potential misuse. The Palm phone’s limited functionality compared to larger smartphones can help parents manage their children’s screen time more effectively.
Another potential use case is for social events or nights out. The Palm phone can serve as a convenient device to take along when you don’t want to risk losing or damaging your primary phone. Its compact size makes it easy to slip into a small purse or pocket, ensuring you stay connected without the added bulk.
Do we really need to have a secondary phone to carry around when we don’t want to take our larger handsets with us? What do you guys think, please leave a comment below and let us know.
