Last week we got to have a look at the new BlackBerry Priv when the handset appeared on video and now Blackberry has released their first official video for the handset.
BlackBerry is marketing the Priv as the ‘World’s first BlackBerry Secure Smartphone powered by Android, so security will obviously play a major part in this new Android device.
The new BlackBerry Priv comes with a slide out full QWERY keyboard and it features a 5.4 inch curved glass display that will have a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The handset is powered by a hexa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and will come with 3GB of RAM.
Other specifications on the Priv include 32GB of built in storage, plus a microSD card slot for expansion. There is also a 3410 mAh battery and the device will come with front and rear facing cameras.
The front camera on the Priv is said to be a 5 megapixel camera and the rear camera is an 18 megapixel camera that features a Schneider Kreuznach lens. The device will come with Google’s Android OS, no details on exactly which version as yet, although we suspect it will be Lollipop.
As well as Android the handset will come with a range of security features from BlackBerry, including the companies new DTEK security software for Android. This could play a major part in the marketing of this new Android smartphone for BlackBerry and could be a major selling point.
It will be interesting to see if BlackBerry’s first Android smartphone becomes popular, if the company can get their first Android device right and get people to buy it, things could turn around for their smartphones sales.
