Google [GOOG] are in the process of testing a new software service that runs on set top boxes and will let users search both TV content and also web videos on their televisions.
The service is apparently based on Google’s Android operating system and the are currently developing the service with broadcast satellite service provider the Dish Network.
It looks like the service is in the early stages of development, so it may be some time before we see Google Search on out set top boxes.It is currently being tested by a number of Google employees.
Google continue to broaden the range of services they offer, and getting such a service into every users home would have a massive impact on Google, it seems that Google wants to take over our living rooms as well as our computers.
