We have heard a lot of rumors about the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones over the last few months. Previous rumors had suggested that the handset would come with an updated Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 processor.
According to a recent report, the new Google Pixel 2 handsets will actually come with the Snapdragon 835. Qualcomm apparently has no plans to launch a faster Snapdragon 836.
Expected Features and Specifications
The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are highly anticipated devices, and there has been a lot of speculation about their features and specifications. The Snapdragon 835 processor, which is now confirmed to be part of these devices, is a powerful chipset that has been used in several flagship smartphones throughout 2017. It offers excellent performance and efficiency, making it a solid choice for the Pixel 2 series.
In addition to the processor, both devices are expected to come with Google’s latest Android 8.0 Oreo OS. This new version of Android brings a host of new features and improvements, including picture-in-picture mode, notification dots, and improved battery life through background process limitations.
Design and Display
While we do not have official details on the design of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, leaks and rumors suggest that the devices will feature a refined design with slimmer bezels and possibly a higher screen-to-body ratio. The Pixel 2 XL, in particular, is expected to have a larger display, possibly around 6 inches, with a higher resolution to compete with other flagship devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone X.
The build quality is also expected to be top-notch, with a combination of metal and glass materials. There have been rumors about the inclusion of water and dust resistance, which would be a welcome addition for many users.
Camera and Other Features
One of the standout features of the original Pixel smartphones was their camera performance. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are expected to continue this trend with improved camera sensors and software enhancements. There have been rumors about the inclusion of dual cameras, but it is more likely that Google will focus on software-based improvements to enhance photo quality.
Other expected features include a fingerprint sensor, possibly located on the back of the device, and the removal of the headphone jack, similar to other recent flagship smartphones. There have also been rumors about the inclusion of stereo speakers for improved audio quality.
Release Date and Pricing
We are expecting the new Pixel 2 smartphones to be made official some time next month. Unfortunately, we do not know many more details about the handsets. However, based on previous releases, it is likely that the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be available for pre-order shortly after their announcement, with a release date following a few weeks later.
As for pricing, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are expected to be priced similarly to their predecessors. The original Pixel and Pixel XL were priced at $649 and $769, respectively, for the base models. It is likely that the new devices will follow a similar pricing structure, with higher prices for models with more storage.
The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are shaping up to be impressive devices with powerful hardware and the latest software from Google. While we still have many questions about the final design and features, the confirmed inclusion of the Snapdragon 835 processor and Android 8.0 Oreo OS are promising signs. As soon as we get some more information about these new smartphones, we will let you guys know.
