Paul Kinlan, a Google developer advocate who recently spoke at the Develop conference in Liverpool. Has unveiled that Google is currently developing a plug-and-play gamepad, webcam, and microphone support for their Chrome OS.
Together with real time communication protocol WebRTC support, which is an open-source video chat application that will run directly in-browser with no plug-in required. This new support could also allow Google’s Chrome OS to provide users with cloud gaming service, similar to the one currently available from OnLive.
As far as release dates are concerned Kinlan was not very specific on anything, but did suggest that some of the new products maybe arriving as early as the first quarter of 2012. As always when more information comes to light we will keep you updated.
