A stylish new Nixie tube clock has been created by students who have launched a campaign to raise the required funds needed to take the design into production. The aptly named the Gixie Clock has been designed to “reproduce the retro beauty of Nixie tube displays”. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the modern Nixie tube clock which offers both open source hardware and code allowing you to modify anything to suit your exact requirements.
The Nixie tube clock is also equipped with unused inputs on the PCB allowing those interested to add extra hardware if desired. The designers behind the Goxie Clock explain more about about its design and construction.
“Gixie Clock uses probes and magnets, so you can change each tube at will. You don’t have to worry about the time after the power failure, because we have added a clock chip inside, to ensure that the clock can continue to be clocked after the power is turned off. Gixie Clock meet raw wood and steel in an uber-cool material combination that’s very in-mode right now. ”
