It’s not always easy to take your eyes off the road and look at the tachometer when getting ready to shift gears. If you are racing, it’s even harder to do so. Ford has announced that the track ready Shelby GT350 has another cool trick up its sleeve that buyers will love. The car comes with a heads up display that puts a shift indicator right in the driver’s line of sight.
The HUD is called the Performance Shift Light Indicator and it gives a line of amber lights in the driver’s line of sight. There are three modes to choose from and each of the modes gives a different pattern to the lights.
In tach mode, the lights move left to right, track mode has the lights moving from outside to inside in a straight line, and drag mode flashes all the lights when the rpm limit is hit. This is a very cool feature and will keep GT350 owners from having to figure out how to shoehorn in a shift light for the drag strip or racetrack. Ford seems to have thought about everything when it comes to the GT350, here’s hoping dealers don’t try to jack up prices with market adjustments and run buyers off to a different brand.
