Ford will be on hand at SEMA this year with a massive display of customized SUVs and crossovers. Ford has announced that it plans to have 28 different customized SUVs at the show with different customizers massaging each one. One of the coolest of all the customs is the Explorer pictured here with custom paint and a sweet carbon fiber roof rack.
Customization and Performance Enhancements
The SUVs start as normal 2015 Edge Sport and 2016 Explorer Sport vehicles and then get massaged for more performance and style. Three of the Edge Sport SUVs on hand will feature 22-inch wheels and increased performance with bolt-on engine upgrades and custom suspensions. One of the Edges gets a supercharger, which significantly boosts its horsepower and torque, making it a thrilling ride for performance enthusiasts.
The customizations don’t stop at just the engine and wheels. These vehicles also receive bespoke interiors with premium materials, advanced infotainment systems, and unique design elements that set them apart from the standard models. For instance, custom leather seats with contrast stitching, upgraded sound systems, and ambient lighting are just a few of the enhancements that make these SUVs stand out.
Versatility in Customization
The Explorer Sports are customized for different needs like commuting or off-roading. Each of the custom SUVs has customized paint and lots of other custom touches. For example, an Explorer designed for off-roading might feature a lifted suspension, all-terrain tires, and skid plates to protect the undercarriage. On the other hand, a commuter-focused Explorer might have a lowered suspension for better handling and fuel efficiency, along with a more luxurious interior for comfort during daily drives.
SEMA will be a huge show and 28 custom SUVs is a lot. Each vehicle will showcase the versatility and potential of Ford’s SUV lineup, demonstrating how these vehicles can be tailored to meet a wide range of needs and preferences. From rugged off-roaders to sleek urban commuters, the customizations on display will highlight the adaptability of the Edge Sport and Explorer Sport models.
I hope Ford leaves room for some of its other cool cars like the Focus RS, Mustang, and Ford GT in the booth. Custom Mustangs go hand in hand with SEMA and I doubt Ford will skip that car altogether. The Mustang, with its rich history and strong following, is always a crowd-pleaser at automotive shows. Whether it’s a classic model with modern upgrades or a new model with cutting-edge technology, the Mustang never fails to impress.
In addition to the Mustangs, the Focus RS and Ford GT are also expected to draw significant attention. The Focus RS, known for its high performance and rally-inspired design, is a favorite among driving enthusiasts. The Ford GT, with its sleek design and powerful engine, represents the pinnacle of Ford’s engineering and design capabilities.
Overall, Ford’s presence at SEMA is set to be impressive, with a wide range of customized vehicles that showcase the brand’s commitment to performance, innovation, and style. Whether you’re a fan of SUVs, sports cars, or high-performance vehicles, there’s sure to be something at Ford’s booth that catches your eye.
