If you live in a quiet neighborhood, but you have your heart set on a 2018 Mustang GT with a rumbly exhaust, fret not. You can get the 2018 Mustang with something called Good Neighbor Mode. That mode wraps in a couple features called Quiet Exhaust mode and Quiet Start mode that are available with the active valve performance exhaust system on the 2018 Mustang GT.
With Quiet Start mode you can program times using thumb controls on the steering wheel when the Mustang will start in quiet mode. The Active Valve Performance Exhaust feature also has louder settings for Normal, Sport, and Track modes.
The idea is to keep the exhaust quieter to avoid making neighbors angry and having them call the police on you. “Active valve performance exhaust gives Mustang owners the best of both worlds – that classic Mustang sound, and the ability to not wake up your neighbors when you leave the house early in the morning or arrive home late at night,” said Matt Flis, Ford exhaust development engineer.
