The new Ford GT is one of the best sports cars that the automaker has ever produced. The car has a body made of carbon fiber and Ford has now announced that the car will have a carbon fiber wheel option too. This makes sense, the GT350R rolls on carbon fiber wheels so the Ford GT couldn’t exactly make do with aluminum wheels only.
There is a big difference between the carbon fiber wheels on the GT350R, which are only offered in a black painted finish and what can be had on the Ford GT. Ford GT buyers can opt for their wheels in matte or glossy clear coat so you can view the sexy carbon fiber in its natural form. The glossy and matte carbon fiber matches the two finishes offered on the sills, fascia, and extractor on the car.
The wheels are supplied by Ford partner Carbon Revolution and use the latest generation fiber and resin technology. The standard wheels on the GT are 8.5 x 20 front and 11.5 x 20 rear. The carbon fiber optional wheels are the same sizes and will shave more than two pounds per wheel compared to the stock forged aluminum wheels. While being lighter, the carbon fiber wheels are also stronger and improve handling.
