The first smartphones to be powered by Mozilla’s new Firefox OS have been launched in Spain as expected. The new Firefox smartphones were first unveiled back in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona during February.
Mozilla has partnered with the Spanish mobile operator Telefonica to launch their new smartphone which take the form of the new ZTE Open and Alcatel One Touch Fire which have been designed by ZTE and Alcatel respectively.
The new Mozilla Firefox smartphones are only available in Spain at the current time and the ZTE Open is priced at €69 that include €30 of pay as you go credit, or on a contract via Telefonica at €2.38 Euros per month.
The Firefox OS has been developed using HTML 5 to help aid third party developers create new applications for the Firefox mobile operating system. Currently only a handful of app are available for e-mail, maps, phone calls and texts.
